Gamjatang 감자탕
Gamjatang is my favourite Korean stew! It is a spicy Korean soup made with pork spine or ribs, vegetables, green onion, hot peppers and ground wild sesame seeds. Gamja (감자) means potato in Korean, but this soup is often served without potatoes, because, "gamja" refers to a cut of the pork.

One Dang Gamjatang (Insadong Branch) 원당감자탕 인사동점
Address: 서울특별시 종로구 인사동5길 20 오원 (Seoul Jongno-gu, Gwanhun-dong 198-36)
Telephone: 02-733-7612

If your friends do not want to share the stew with you, you can also order haejangguk (해장국), which is the same as the big one! Haejangguk is literally hangover soup. Yes! Koreans eat this for hangovers.

Tadaa~ this is the gamjatang from One Dang, together with egg roll and side dishes (banchan).

When you are done with most of the stew, you can order additional rice and they can make fried rice for you! Remember to leave a little bit of the soup!

In some smaller neighbourhood restaurants, they may even give you alcohol as service! I have no idea why they will do that when customers are ordering a hangover soup. I guess we looked too sober :P

Happy customer!
Oh yes, remember to wear an apron especially if you are wearing light coloured clothes.

Enjoy your gamjatang, hangover or not!
