We stayed in Christchurch for one night after our red-eye flight from Singapore so that we can recharge before the roadtrip around South Island! As you may be aware, there was a major earthquake in Christchurch in 2011, and some buildings are still currently being rebuilt, such as the Christchurch Cathedral. Since we were jetlagged and trying to adjust to the time difference, we only roamed around the city centre. The city centre is small enough to walk around. It was quite relaxing given the good weather we had.

We stayed at Ibis Hotel Christchurch. Loved its proximity to the attractions in the city centre! It's a basic, no frills hotel, comfortable enough for the 3 of us. We reserved seats on the supershuttle and reached the hotel in about 30mins.

Container mall is just a few minutes walk from Ibis hotel. There's lots of food choices and some clothing and souvenir shops.

We stopped by this organic ice cream store for some fresh ice cream! It's made with frozen berries and really very yummy!!

One of the best ice cream I've ever tasted!

To prepare for the roadtrip (and also because I forgot to bring detergent for washing Miss Ting's bottles), we went shopping at FreshChoice supermarket. The supermarket reminds me of Cold Storage since the products seem more upmarket.

We had both our lunch and dinner at New Regent Street. We wanted to go to Twenty Seven steps for lunch, but didn't realise that they were closed during the day. There are many restaurants along the street. We chose Cafe Stir for our lunch.
Second storey of Cafe Stir - There's toilets on the second floor but no changing table for babies.

Books for kids on the second storey
Fish and chips - Huge portion of fries, but the fish fillets were average.
Mutton burger with fries. Reminds me of kebabs in burger form. It's worth a try!
View from our seats - Many people were seated outside enjoying the summer sun. We were just trying to hide from the sun and its harmful UV rays as much as possible! haha!!

We had a good dinner at Twenty Seven Steps. We didn't make a reservation but were lucky to get the last table. There's no high chairs available so Miss Ting sat with me on the bench. But of course she wasn't sitting there most of the time.

We were grateful to the staff who entertained Miss Ting by letting her draw on the whiteboard while we have our dinner. Miss Ting did create a mess when she decided to throw all the tiny pieces of chalk on the floor, but at least I was able to finish most of my meal before the disaster struck. I would recommend Twenty Seven Steps for a romantic dinner date (with or without a little lightbulb)!
