One of the random motels chosen by my travel buddy and I. The motel is located near the bus terminal, and there are other motels in the vicinity. We simply chose it because the first motel we were attracted to (because of the neon lights) was a little expensive (60,000krw / night). It may be a little strange for 2 girls to go to a motel, but as long as it's clean and affordable, it's alright for us!
Rate: 30,000krw for 3 hours (대실), 50,000krw for overnight stay (숙박)

We love how big the TVs are in motels, and this motel has Olleh TV which allows us to rewatch shows! We were happy to watch Shinhwa Broadcast till the wee hours.

Since that was our 2nd time staying at an "automated" motel (no reception, it's just like buying something off a vending machine), we were more familiar with it. There are pictures of the rooms for you to choose from.
From the vending machine, choose from the available rooms. There was only one available then.
Next, choose whether you want to stay for 3 hours (대실) or overnight (숙박). Insert the cash into the slot.
Retrieve the card / key!
Tadaaa! As simple as that. When you leave, simply leave the keys in the box in the elevator.
They even sell things you may need. Just remember to drop the money into the box.
After we dropped our bags, we went straight to the ferry terminal, only to realise that we went to the wrong ferry terminal + missed the last ferry for the day to Jangsado. It meant that we had to extend our stay in Tongyeong the next day, but it was definitely a blessing in disguise, as we went to worthwhile places we did not planned to!

We had lunch at a nearby restaurant called "Fresh Raw Fish & Seafood Soup", and for 12,000krw, we got a bowl of raw fish bibimbap, mussels soup and side dishes including seasoned eel!

One of the recommended must-try in Tongyeong is the Honey Bread, or ggul bbang (꿀빵). We bought ours at a random bakery outside Seoho Market, and it was delicious and awfully sweet at the same time. You can buy it at the bus terminal cafe too.
Tongyeong Live Fish Market - Our intention was to pass by the market while finding Dongpirang, and who knew that there's a path up to the mural village from the market!

Dongpirang Mural Village (동피랑마을)
Another gem found in Tongyeong because we missed the ferry to Jangsado. You can read more about Jangsado here. We were lucky to visit the village just after the wall murals were freshly painted in April 2014, and I was even more excited to find out that it's the filming location for "Innocent Man 착한남자" starring my favourite flower boy Song Joong Ki and the fact that it was recommended by the evil maknae Kyuhyun in "Experience Korea with Super Junior"! B1A4 also painted a wall mural during their filming of "One Fine Day".

How to get there: From Tongyeong Bus Terminal, take Bus 101 in front of the Bus Terminal and get off at Toseonggogae Pass Bus Stop. Continue walking toward the four-way intersection and take a left to reach Dongpirang Village.

Dara Park (달아공원)
The most beautiful sunset I've ever seen in my entire life. No kidding. We were blessed with good weather, and the view at the observatory platform was awesome. As we were running out of time we actually took a cab up the winding hills. It's the best investment of my entire Korea trip!

How to get there: From Tongyeong Bus Terminal, transfer to Bus 530 and 536 in front of the Bus Terminal and get off at Dara Bus Stop (44 bus stops).
To go back to Tongyeong Terminal, cross the road from the park and take the same bus. Do note that the last bus is at about 8.30pm.
I'll strongly recommend at least 1 full day to 2 days at this beautiful city.
