Cuca Flavor
Address: Jalan Yoga Perkanthi, Jimbaran, Bali 80364, Indonesia
Probably my best culinary experience so far! Every dish was a unique creation and looked like a piece of art too beauitful to be eaten! But once you start, you can't stop! Cuca is surrounded by resorts and the full length windows allowed ample sunlight into the restaurant, making the place so bright and welcoming. You can also opt to dine outdoors if the weather is good. I also liked that they have curtains for private dining, though the restaurant was quiet enough not to require them. The service at Cuca was really good as well. The staff explained to us in detail the ingredients for each dish and even recommended way of eating them!
Outdoor chilling and dining
We were welcomed with cold towels to cool us down in the hot Bali weather
Seats in front of the kitchen to watch how the chefs prepare your meal
Restaurant Interior
Sun-gria with colourful ice fruit cubes!
Sun & Moon-gria (65,000k IDR each)
We had the chef tasting meal for 480K IDR per person, and the first dish was Cotton Betutu. The staff recommended eating it in one mouthful, and I loved it! Melts in your mouth!!
Ceviche ~ Sliced raw emperor fish, chilli lime dressing, watermelon ice & basil.
A very refreshing dish. The raw fish was sweet and sooooo good!
Smoked butterfish ~ Beetroot yogurt, avocado, bread cracker, wild fennel. Delicious! Nuff said!
Glazed young carrot salad ~ whipped avocado, mountain strawberry, cashew nut, lemon balm.
My favourite dish out of the lot, except the cashew nuts that I'm allergic to. I didn't know strawberries can be prepared like that. Together with the young carrots and avocado, it was the perfect match!
BBQ octopus ~ asian gazpacho, fresh apple, caramelised califlower, coriander
Crispy fried chicken ~ Wild honey, country coleslaw, sesame dust, asian basil
Roasted Tiger Prawns ~ Sweet & sour baby zucchini, red chilli, coconut broth, lime leaf
Looks like an art piece doesn't it?
Erm, I don't remember the name of this dish, and can't find the information online! By the time we finished this dish, we were very ready for desserts.
Bali breakfast ~ sweet runny mango, frozen passionfruit, whipped coconut
The innocent looking dessert which you may have mistaken for a sunny side up is awesome! Poke into what-seems-like-an-egg-yolk and you get mango flowing out and blending perfectly with the whipped coconut. But that's not all. Dig further in and you get frozen passionfruit and crunchy graham bits! I salute the chef for thinking of this creation.
Cocoa 99 ~ Warm organic chocolate, mint ice cream, cocoa croutons
I'm not a fan of mint ice cream, but I left the bowl empty within 5 minutes! The chocolate was a little too thick (think stuck in your throat chocolate), but the combination with mint ice cream made it less heavy. Loved the bitter cocoa and even though my stomach was filled before I reached the dessert, I didn't want to let good food go to waste. :)
And just when we were ready to pay and leave for our next destination, ta-da! The staff showed us to the outdoor cocktail bar and poured us home-made alcoholic brews! The alcohol was strong!
The outdoor bar
The prices are Cuca may be overwhelming compared to what you find in other locations in Bali, but we both agree that it was totally worth it. We enjoyed our quiet lunch with fantastic service. Definitely a culinary delight! Highly recommended if you are in Bali. Even if you are not near Jimbaran, make a special trip there!
