From Launceston to Bicheno
As we move towards the east of Tasmania during winter, the landscape changes significantly! You would think of winter as cold, snowing, gloomy skies, but the east of Tasmania is none of that! I especially loved the east for the beautiful blue skies!

Eureka Farm
Our first pitstop was Eureka Farm. Since it was winter, the farms were bare, but they had stocks of fruit jams! The "Our Berry Best Jam" was delicious!

The very bare farm

Coastal route to Bicheno - There's many routes to Bicheno, but choose the coastal route even if it's a bit longer. You won't regret it!!
Beautiful skies in the east coast of Tasmania
So beautiful we did a stopover in the middle of nowhere and did a little photoshoot of our rental car. Haha!

Bicheno Blowhole
The Bicheno Blowhole is located along the east coast of Tasmania. You can easily find it along the esplanade, beside an angular rock. The rocks are slippery and the force from the blowhole should not be underestimated, so remember to stay a safe distance!

Bicheno Backpackers Hostel
We booked a double ensuite room for 2 nights in Bicheno. The hostel was very cosy and homely, with a living room, kitchen, huge backyard to hang your clothes, free parking. The owners were very friendly as well! There was no website booking when we were there. Now you can easily find it on www.booking.com or www.hostelz.com! The location of the hostel is really good, and the blue penguin tour is just across the street.

There was some renovation going on then, so we had a few more beds even though we booked a double ensuite.
Ensuite toilet which was a little small

Fully equipped kitchen - you can buy your ingredients from the nearby supermarket.

Bicheno Penguin Tours
Our main objective for staying at Bicheno was to see the blue penguins! Blue penguins are the smallest species of penguins, growing to an average of 25-30cm. Strictly no photography on the tour as the flashlights may blind the penguins!! Although we did not have any photos from the tour, I can still remember the little penguins we saw! We were very lucky that night and managed to spot several penguins.

It was a small tour group, so you will definitely be able to see the penguins during the right season.
