Kunigami / Nakijin
We started our actual road trip on the second day of our travel. This is something I would recommend if you are planning for a road trip, because you never know if there'll be any flight delays, luggage delays, jetlags, etc. It's always good to have a buffer so that you can have a good rest before driving! Take our example, we actually took the wrong luggage and ended up having to go back to the airport to retrieve our luggage. It was a good thing that the airport is only 15mins away from our first stop, Naha. If we started our road trip straight away, I don't know how far away we would have been.
We rented the car from Orix Rental Cars, which was about 200m away from our hotel. Super convenient to just roll our luggages along the same street!
Our first destination was to the other end of the island! Toll ticket which you need to give to the toll booth when you exit the expressway. Keep it safely (I almost misplaced it!)
Okinawa is actually not that big, but it was quite hard to plan the itinerary as I wanted limited time on the road on a day-to-day basis, and to avoid long distance driving (since we don't drive in Singapore plus Miss Ting gets carsick quite easily). After much research, I decided to travel to the furthest part of Okinawa on the first day (while we are still fresh), and then slowly make our way back to Naha in a week.

The first stop was Cape Hedo. The weather was not too hot that day, just nice for walking around. The carpark was quite empty when we were there. There's a toilet available near the carpark, and it is quite clean too.
Mr and Miss Ting posing for mummy :) Actually I wanted to take a photo of Mr Ting only, but Miss Ting decided to join in the fun. haha!

Next stop was lunch! Before our trip, we researched on the Okinawan food to try, and one of them is the stir-fried bittergourd. This is almost like our Chinese zichar, except that there's yummy spam in it! The Okinawan soba was another must-try and the one with pork ribs was nice! My order of soba was a bit too oily for my liking and too much beansprouts for me.

After lunch, we drove to Kouri Island, towards the direction of our accommodation. Kouri Ocean Tower has a good view of the surroundings, I would highly recommend going there during sunset. When you reach the place, you will be asked if you want to take a photo with a fake backdrop. We decided to purchase the photograph, only to realise that you can take a photo with the real backdrop when you reach the top of the tower. Of course the actual weather on that day may not as nice as the fake backdrop.

The most challenging attraction to reach, especially if you need to carry your precious little ones down to the beach! There's free crocs for you to use at the entrance area (and an area to wash your feet). On hindsight I'm not sure whether it's better to wear crocs or sneakers, as the path is really rocky and crocs do not protect you from the sharp edges of those rocks! But I didn't want to dirty my sneakers. Your feet WILL SINK INTO THE SAND!!! And sand will get into your shoes. Yucks! Anyway, it's really quite slippery and scary going down to the beach, thankfully Mr Ting carried Miss Ting down (and I carried her on the way back). It's a place good to stay for about 5-10mins.
And that's all the places we went in a day before we retreated to our lovely acommodation in Motobu :)
