How to get there: Hongik University Station (Lines 2, Airport Railroad amd Gyengui)
Getting in & out of Hongik University station line 2 (exit 9) can be a nightmare on weekends. The photo was taken in the afternoon at about 2pm, so expect twice or thrice the crowd on weekends.
Huge dog of the candyfloss seller. It's a popular icon and is always attracting crowds! The owner shaved its hair in summer and it looks like a lion!
I usually shop around the main shopping street. Get out from exit 9 of line 2, walk straight for about 150m, turn left and cross the road at the first traffic light you see. You will see Tony Moly on the right of the shopping street. There's lots of shops selling clothes, shoes, accessories and even lifestyle goods! My favourite shops are book.com and the lifestyle shop at sangsang madang (상강 마당), selling stationery and knick-knacks!

If you are at the area on Saturday, do check out the free market at the Hongik's Children Park from 1pm to 6pm, opened from March through to November.
(Directions: Exit 9, Hongik University Station (Subway Line 2). Go 150m straight, and cross the street. Turn left, and go 500m straight towards the Hongik University entrance. Turn right to arrive at Hongik Children's Park.)
Handmade items such as accessories, pouches, photo frames and cups are sold by the creative artists! I was impressed by the creativity of the artists. No 2 stalls are selling anything similar in style!
And of course, after much shopping, you need food to replenish your empty stomachs! Read my various posts below for food recommendations!
Hongdae, being such a vibrant place, is definitely the right place to stay for the food, shopping and young culture! Oh yes, trick art museum is also at Hongdae! I'll blog about it soon!
