BBQ Salt-crusted Lemongrass Fish outside Central World (Roadside Stall)
If you walk from Platinum Mall towards Central World, you will cross a bridge and then reach a row of roadside stalls that are set up at 4.30-5pm daily. The snakehead fish was strongly recommended and we decided to eat that for our last dinner in Bangkok. There were a few stalls, and since we were there early, we chose the first stall we saw (from the direction of Platinum Mall), only to realise when the crowd came that the other stalls were the more popular ones with locals.
The fish is coated in salt, stuffed with lemongrass and chargrilled.
Surprisingly Chang Beer is quite strong, leaving us with red faces after just 2 cups.
Chilli sauce
Lemongrass snakehead fish - The fish was cooked nicely, the meat was firm, but it did not taste much of lemongrass.
BBQ squid - average in my opinion
BBQ Prawns (大头虾)
Total cost for the meal was about 1000baht (S$40). It's definitely one of those experiences sitting by the roadside, having dinner and people watching. The popular stalls get crowded after 6pm, so do go earlier!
