Petite France (쁘띠프랑스)
Being one of the filming locations for variety shows like Running Man and Korean dramas such as Beethoven Virus/베토벤 바이러스, Secret Garden/시크릿 가든, and the most recent You Who Came from the Stars/별에서 온 그대/来自星星的你, this place is definitely not foreign to fans. The French cultural theme park includes a memorial hall to the author of Le Petit Prince, Saint-Exupery, and though small as its name suggests, it's the place to spend an afternoon just wandering around for lots of photo-taking.

Admission Fees: 8,000krw

How to get there: From Dong Seoul Bus Terminal or Sangbong Bus Terminal. Take an intercity bus to Cheongpyeong (청평).
From Cheongpyeong Terminal, take a local bus bound for Goseong-ri (고성리). * Bus Schedule: 06:30-20:00, runs 9 times a day
Or, from the Cheongpyeong Terminal, take Gapyeong Tour Bus to Petite France. * Bus Schedule: 08:30-17:30, runs 7 times a day

Instead of taking public transport, we decided to rent a car from kt kumho rent a car, for 76,000krw a day.

Within Petite France you can also find the standees of Do Min Joon and Chun Song Yi!

The hillside theme park is surrounded by mountains and lakes, and is a picturesque village from every angle. I'll recommend going on a day trip together with Nami Island and Garden of Morning Calm, since the attractions are near each other.

  1. Hi there! It's me again. The one who was asking you about Jangsado. I was reading your whole blog and find it really informative. Am planning a day trip to Petit France as well and was wondering if you could help answer a few questions:
    1) How long does it take to get to Petit France from Seoul?
    2) How much time shall I allocate to explore Petit France at a leisurely pace? I am exploring your suggestion to go to Nami Island as well and was wondering if there will be enough time to do both in a one day trip
    3) How do I get to Nami Island from Petit France?
    4) I read on your Nami Island blog that 2 hours is sufficient to spend on Nami Island?

Thanks so much again for all your help and information.

    1. Hi there! Glad that I can be of help (:
      1) By car it takes about 1h, by public transport it's about 1.5h-2h.
      2) I think covering both on a day trip is fine. I did mine by rental car but we left Seoul around noon and finished both by 7pm. Petite France is really small, to explore at a leisurely pace, 2-3h is more than sufficient. We reached at 5pm and left before 7pm with lots of phototaking.
      3) if you are going by public transport, there's a gapyeong tour bus. Check out the details here. http://asiaenglish.visitkorea.or.kr/ena/SI/SI_EN_3_4_10_19.jsp
      4) I walked around nami so 2h was sufficient. If you want to cycle as well as have your lunch there, another hour or 2 should be fine. Both times when I was there, we ran out of things to do after 2h since we weren't keen on cycling. The island is very easy to walk around (:

    2. Thanks so much for your help and replies again :) I think I have worked out my itinerary thanks to you. I am going from Seoul to Damyang cos the pictures on your blog looks beautiful and will probably spend a night at Damyang or Gwangju then I will head to Tongyeong for a night and go to Jangsado the following day.

You drove to Petit France from Seoul? How do you know the directions? Am thinking of doing that as there are 4 of us but am concern about directions and getting lost. Did you drive to Petit France from Nami Island as well? How long does that take?

      Thanks in advance!

    3. Hi there! Glad that I was of help :)

Yes we rented a car from ktkumho (https://www.ktkumhorent.com/eng/main.do) (do sign up as member first to get better rates) and drove to Nami Island then Petite France. They provide English GPS for free! You can get them to key in the locations for you before you start your trip. It takes about 1-1.5hours to reach Nami Island, and Petite France is just about 7km away from Nami. Cheers!

  2. Not sure if my earlier post got registered. May I know which KT Kumbo branch you rented from? The Seoul station location said they don't have any GPS at all :(
