Eating as you walk along the busy streets in Korea is a must-do activity, especially when there is so much good food for you to choose from. You will be spoilt for choice! There's really no need to sit down in restaurants unless you want to take a break. Here's some snacks not to be missed! And good news for those who can't take spicy food, they're non-spicy and still yummy! Ok maybe the chicken & ddeok is a little spicy. =P
Gyeran bbang 계란빵 - literally egg bread!
The bread tastes like corn muffin with an egg on top! There's also the version where the egg is in between the bread. This can be found in most places. I've seen it at Myeongdong, Hongdae, Namdaemun, etc.
Soy Sauce Chicken (Ganjang Chicken) 간장 치킨 with Ddeok (rice cake) and hash brown, drizzled with cheese!
This is my must-eat everytime I go to Edae. The one I'm holding is the medium cup (2,000krw). If you are not a fan of any of the ingredients, you can request to remove it. So far I've only seen this at edae (Ewha Station Exit 2, go straight!)
Sambodang Hotteok 삼보당 호떡
Hotteok is essentially sold at most places as well, but I love the one at Insadong. Hotteok is a Korean pancake filled with cinnamon, nuts or even japchae (glass noodles). This sinful delight is best eaten during the cold winter. Beware of the scorching hot fillings though!
Update: They have moved to Hyehwa Station!

Hotteok with cinnamon and nuts
Hotteok with Japchae, and another with cinnamon, on a day I felt greedy. This was all I had for dinner though :)
Bungeoppang - 붕어빵 (Korean Carp Bread)
Bungeoppang is similar to Japan's taiyaki, often with red-bean or custard filling. Koreans also use the term "Bungeoppang" to describe children who look very much like their parents. Unlike the Japanese taiyaki, the Korean Bungeoppang tends to be smaller, and often sold in bags of 5 or 10.
Fish cake skewers with sausages and crabsticks (핫바)
I tried this gigantic fish cake skewer (or what they call Hotbar) in Namdaemun, and I couldn't eat anything else after that. It was sooo filling and sooo good! It costs about 3,000krw for a skewer.
The skewers are freshly prepared at the stall, and there's also the version in soup (Eomuk or Odeng 어묵(오뎅)).
Tornado potato (with sausage) 회오리 감자
Last but not least, my favourite of the favourites - tornado potato! I first tried the original version (just potato) in 2012 and liked it a lot! In 2013, a new version, tornado potato with sausage, appeared in the street stall in Myeongdong! I was hooked after that. Still craving for it every now and then :D The potato is deep-fried and then coated with cheese or chilli powder on the rims. Very tasty and sinful!
And there you have it! 5 delicious Korean street food to try the next time you are in Seoul! Even if you don't speak Korean, fear not. Just point and use sign language. Many vendors in the touristy areas can speak a little English or Chinese as well!
Now, I hope I got you hungry! :D
