Walking through Susukino to Nijo market
My daily itineraries for the trip are similar - to the market first (if there is one), eat at the market or somewhere nearby, visit attractions, dinner, shopping, home sweet home. By the third day I was a bit bored of the grocery shopping part at the markets, but the food never fails to amaze me!!
Random flowers seen at one of the apartment exterior, reminding me of my key highlight of the trip - flower fields!!

We took the subway to Susukino and walked over to Nijo market. The weather was good in the morning for a leisurely stroll.
End of Tanukikoji Shopping Centre is just opposite Nijo Market
The interior of Nijo market is stroller friendly enough

Family Amenities: Baby chairs
We didn't intend to eat there, but we saw a long queue for sushi bowls and decided to join the crowd. The shop was very cramped and we had to leave our stroller opposite their shop with the fridges (also part of their shop space). Though the place was small, there's baby chairs available!
Restaurant owner (looks like her on the namecard) preparing the bbq seafood
Pretending to drink from her baby cup
The sashimi was very fresh! My personal favourites are hotate and maguro.
BBQ fish which was very yummy too!!
Butter scallops
Prawn and scallop bowl
Cheese prawns!
Hotate bowl
Nijokani Market
After finishing our lunch, we continued shopping in the market, and stumbled upon this shop selling crabs! They have a restaurant opposite the market serving crab dishes.
I love crabs and couldn't resist it!
We started with a king crab bun, which was freshly steamed for us. It looks normal on the outside..
But the inside.. *hearts everywhere* juicy king crab in a cream sauce!!! It was soooo goood!!!
Then i saw king crab tempura. Win liao, must eat since I'm in Hokkaido!! Wah sooooooo yummy! I think I can finish 2 plates on my own. Haha!!
Sapporo TV Tower
After the yummy crab meal, we walked over to Sapporo TV tower which was nearby. I was quite shocked to find out that there's no diaper changing facilities at the tower, it being a tourist attraction.
We didn't go to the top of the tower since my hubby didn't fancy the views.
If the weather is good, you can have a picnic or short break along Odori Park and the water fountains. There were many little kids playing around the fountains.
Our helpful "trolley" for the trip. It served more as a trolley than a baby stroller.
After the great disappointment at Sapporo TV tower (because no diaper changing facilities), we found one with great facilities at Sapporo Parco!
Since it was still early, we decided to shop around Susukino area. On the way to Daiso, I saw these cute Hello Kitty construction barriers! A whole row of them!!
And so I thought we should spend some time in Daiso to avoid the heat and also to find some good buys. In the end we were in the five-storey Daiso for 2 hours!!!! I'm glad my hubby and in-laws enjoyed shopping at Daiso as much as I usually do :)
Mt Moiwa Ropeway
Going to Mt Moiwa Ropeway is a bit tricky if you are not driving. We took the streetcar to Ropeway Iriguchi stop, and walked to Sanroku Station. There is a shuttle bus stop near the streetcar stop, but it didn't look like it can fit our stroller. Hence we decided to walk (UPSLOPE!!!). It was a steep upslope but Little V enjoyed her walk / climb.
Report of the weather at the summit so that you can decide whether or not to purchase your tickets. We were lucky that day!
1700yen for 1 adult ticket (return)
Love locks at the summit. Somehow it just looks very neat, befitting of Japanese style.
Restaurant and cafe for take out
Souvenir Shop
We went at 4.30pm and left at 6pm before the sunset since it was getting too cold for Little V. We then took the streetcar back to Susukino and then subway to Sapporo Station for tonkatsu!!!
Tazumura Tonkatsu Restaurant たづむら
We went back to Daimaru Level 8 to have dinner at Tazumura Tonkatsu Restaurant. I ordered the tenderloin set and it was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside! I didn't like the plum salad dressing though. I very much prefer the sesame dressing at Saboten in Singapore. Somehow I think the standards are the same as what I usually find at Saboten.
One thing to note - Daimaru closes at 8pm but the restaurants on Level 8 open till later. If you want to visit the supermarket at the basement, do visit it first before dinner. We were disappointed that we were not in time for supermarket shopping.
That's all for the first 3 days of city touring! Now to the flower fields!!!
