It was a rainy day and the only day I decided to wear shorts. Although it was summer, it was quite cold that morning! Jigokudani was just a stone's throw away from our accommodation, probably a good walking distance if you are not travelling with kids. We parked at one of the hotels' carpark and saved 500yen parking fee. From the photos I saw online, I assumed that it was going to be a touch-and-go place, as the photos I saw online all looked the same (like above). But it was quite an interesting place to walk around a bit if you are fine with the strong sulphuric smell. Hold on to your kids tightly though!!

Family Amenities: Diaper changing, not stroller-friendly
Oni and Enma - Guardians of Hell Valley
Little V enjoyed the boardwalk
It's interesting how I can understand all 4 languages :D
Guardians of Hell Valley leading you to the restrooms
There's also a souvenir shop near the entrance, selling some interesting items. I bought some souvenirs including mud mask packs.
Lunch choices along the way from Noboribetsu to Chitose were limited, so I planned to visit the seafood market where there's probably going to be food. Good choice as it's one of our favourite lunches for the trip! We also managed to buy some dried goods (black beans) and veggies.
Family Amenities: Surprisingly there's a diaper changing room with a huge bed!
Tomachop! Mascot of Tomakomai
One stalk of asparagus costs about S$1.20
Super huge sweet potato. Our luggages were full if not I would have bought one back for my mum!
We were attracted by the sizzling bbq seafood!
We ordered 3 sets of the shellfishes - oysters and buttered scallops
The table for 4 was quite small, so we had to occupy 2 tables (for 8 pax instead) to fit the bbq pits.
On top of the shellfishes, we ordered one main dish each
Crabmeat don
Lunch was really good, the shellfishes were fresh and juicy, and the crabmeat don really sweet! The toddler was busy throwing snacks on the floor though, so we had to clean up a bit.
There's also a few shops across the road where you can find seafood products as well as souvenirs.
Childhood favourite! I just had to buy one of them back
I wanted to stay the last night at the airport hotel, but it was fully booked. The best alternative was ANA Crowne Plaza as there's a shuttle bus to the airport, plus the price was reasonable. On the website it's stated as check-in after 1pm. We reached at 2.45pm and were told that we had to wait one hour for our room!! What!!! The staff who served us wasn't very friendly too. In the end, after chasing a few staff including the senior manager for updates, we were asked if we can check in for one room first (as we were in a hurry to return the car), and to come back later for the other room. We were quite furious about it since we already reached at such a late timing, but the rooms were not ready. There was hardly any room to move about after we checked into the room with 4 luggages and 1 stroller. The room was very new though. Basic amenities but good enough. Wished that it was a king size bed though!

Last blog post on Hokkaido coming right up! Shopping at New Chitose Airport!
