Located at the south of Okinawa island, Nanjo / Itoman / Tomigusuku is an area near the airport that is worth exploring! Due to the (lack of) itinerary for one of the days, we drove down to Okinawa World even though it was supposed to be part of my "on the way back to Naha places to go". It turned out to be a good decision as we spent quite a number of hours exploring Okinawa World, which we wouldn't have if we only went there on the last day of our trip.

We spent more than one hour in the caves and it was my favourite part of Okinawa World! It's not the first limestone cave I've visited but somehow I'm always fascinated by them! When we checked with the information counter, they said that strollers are ok in the caves and there's only "2 flights of stairs". We kind of regretted bringing the stroller as there were MANY MANY flights of stairs. I would highly recommend a baby carrier instead.
Traditional Okinawan performance
It's hard to resist fruits when you are in Japan!
My favourite scallop snack
One of the things on my Okinawa bucket list was to dress up in traditional Okinawan costume (Ryusou) with Miss Ting! Nevermind the fact that it was super expensive for a 5min photoshoot, it was totally worth it since the costumes were soooooo pretty and Miss Ting actually posed for the photos elegantly 😍 She was at the stage where she'll make funny faces or ignore your camera but somehow she listened to the photographer and we got some nice photos. 👍
After our photoshoot, we shopped at the gift shop and bought some yummy snacks! There was a lot of food samples as well, which delighted Miss Ting.

Nakamoto Fresh fish is located on the small Omija Island. There were raves online for the freshly fried tempura, but we did not enjoy it that much. Not sure if it was the timing when we were there though. It was past lunch time and there was no queue for the food, and empty tables! Most of the tempura were cold and soft, and I think we over ordered! The mozuku seaweed tempura was something interesting though.

Since we were on Omija Island, we took a short drive to Ryugushin, which we didn't go near because it didn't look like a short walk from here! Miss Ting was also napping so we decided to skip this in the end.

Highly recommended beach to go, because it is soooo beautiful! There were lots of seashells (really small ones) on the beach and Miss Ting enjoyed picking them! The waters were so clean and clear I was tempted to go in, but it was quite cold in November.
There's also a playground beside the beach, which kept Miss Ting entertained for quite a long while!

We visited Itoman City Market for some fresh seafood before heading to Happy Pancakes for desserts. Super fresh seafood at a good price!
Flea market outside the seafood market - Not sure if it's there permanently though.

One of the highlights of the trip was Happy Pancake at Umikaji Terrace. Parking is quite hard to find if you don't want to walk too far, but we were quite lucky to get a lot just in front of the place. It's a long wait at Happy Pancake (we waited about an hour for a seat, and then our food) but totally worth it. The pancakes were so wobbly soft and delicious! I would recommend seating outdoors for a great sea view to accompany the yummy food!
And that's all for our Okinawa trip! It's our last family trip as a family of 3 to Japan, because the next time we visit Japan, it'll be a family of 4 😍 Can't wait for our next trip to Japan!
